Match over- Congratulations to Roger Federer who beat Nikolay Davydenko (6-3, 6-4) to claim his first title of the year!
Roger Federer has an early chance to win his first title of the year when he plays the in form Russian, Nikolay Davydenko today.
Federer has a 14-2 winning record over the Russian, but two of those losses were in 2009/2010 and Davydenko is showing a suberb run of play and won’t give up his title easily.
Earlier in the semifinals Federer had beaten Tsonga, 6-3, 7-6. Nadal lost to Davydenko 6-3, 6-3 averting a final between Rafa and Roger.
Nadal had some consolation by winning the doubles final with Marc Lopez by beating Bracciali and Seppi.

Rafa will play in the afternoon session, not before 2:30pm local time (6:30pm GMT). He’s never lost to his opponent, Philipp Kohlschreiber in their previous six encounters but it should be noted that each of the three times the pair have met on hard courts, the German has managed to win a set - so don’t count him out today. I pick Nadal in three.
Roger’s match against Tomas Berdych will be a humdinger on many levels. Our Swiss champion will be hungrier then ever to prove he is still a mighty force in this game called tennis, and toavenge the two losses against the Czech in 2010 (Miami and Wimbledon). I pick Federer’s will to see him through, again in three sets.
