Rafael Nadal will play the second singles match on the Stadium court, immediately following Andy Murray vs Ernests Gulbis. That s should be some time about 3pm local time, 7pm GMT. He plays Frenchman Julien Benneteau, who incredibly perhaps has a 1-1 record with the Mallorcan. The loss came in 2004, so perhaps we should not read too much into that, but I am sure Rafa will be keen to impose a winning record in the head to head.
Roger Federer will play Philipp Kohlschreiber, who has been his hitting partner in recent weeks. They come on after the end of the Nadal match. Fed has a clean 5-0 head to head, and has never dropped a set to the German.

Having successfully advanced to the third round of Wimbledon without having dropped a set, Roger Federer faces what could be a stiffer challenge in German Philip Kohlschreiber today.
Kohlschreiber has lost in all three previous encounters between the two, but has shown a lot of form this year – most notably having beaten Novak Djokovic in Roland Garros.

Federer had a easy win over James Blake, 6-2, 6-4 and Nadal had an even easier march into the quarterfinals after Philipp Kohlschreiber withdrew through injury.

Roger Federer will play American Andy Roddick in his toughest match to date in this tourney. Andy is hardly strong on clay court, but is in good form, and seems to find the Madrid surface to his liking. My pick though is that Roger will go through in two close fought sets.
Rafael Nadal will come up against fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco and we can expect Rafael will have to work a little harder for this one. Still, given his form of late, I cannot see Fer pulling off any upset today, and again expect a win in two good sets of tennis.
